The refreshed BMW 3 Series

For 2016, BMW’s best-selling model gets a revised look, a brand-new engine and more dynamic capability.
At first glance, there are no many changes from the previous model. The exterior sees a near-imperceptible facelift and the interior only gained a few high-gloss metal accents. It’s really under the skin that the updates are significant. The 2016 BMW 340i is the first to use the new 6-cylinder gasoline power plant, which has its own name, the B58. That’s an all-aluminum 3.0-liter with the BMW TwinPower Turbo and it actually makes 320 horsepower. BMW estimates that the standard eight-speed automatic can reach 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, while the xDrive shaves that to 4.9 seconds. The new engine lineup also improves body control and suspension.
There’s also another new member in the BMW 3-series family: the 330e plug-in hybrid! It will be powered by a small turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline-burning engine and a compact electric motor. This will be the first-ever plug-in hybrid 3 Series and it will be launch somewhere next year.
The BMW 3 Series has always been the pick of the bunch in the medium-sized luxury car segment and they have been around for 40 years now. The small sport sedan has now become a legend and is definitely the benchmark of the segment.
